Did any towers on Far East have to be reprofiled in order to accommodate it crossing under Red Dog 6 vs. crossing over Red Dog 3? 🤔

      I don’t think so

On second look, because they moved the bottom terminal of Red Dog to make room for Base 2 Base, the crossing of Far East is in a different location, so Far East wouldn’t have needed reprofiling.

In the current setup, Far East crosses under Red Dog between towers 4 and 5. It crossed over the triple between towers 5 and 6. The triple ran up skier’s right of Lower Dog Leg at that point.

I wonder if that breakover was designed by a former Riblet engineer…

Isn’t that an incredible breakover? Yeah makes me think Riblet as well but naah.

It’s a shame they didn’t paint this lift red. It would have looked good.

Interesting how low the line gets near the top.

From a lift where people were scared of the height of the chairs, to a lift where we’re scared our skis will touch. In this big snow year(2022-2023) they are digging out under the chair where it’s close to the ground. I feel like they could have built it a “little” higher off the ground.

my dad used to be afraid to ride the old lift with us as kids because of how high it was and my mom remembers the first red dog being high up as well

Snow years like this are rare. The wind is a regular occurrence. They can dig the lift out in years with a ton of snow but cannot lower it when it gets windy. I think they made the right call.

Tower 16 appears to be inclined up the lift line (as opposed to down) based on the side the ladder mounts are on. Makes me wonder if all those towers on are on one giant foundation…? Tower 16 also seems to be missing its ladder.

The new bottom terminal location is a great improvement. It has both decluttered the base area and reduced crowding.

What do you mean “In the way” I think the bottom of the old red dog was also far away from the gondola today.

The new Base 2 Base Gondola had the Palisades Terminal built where the old Red Dog bottom terminal loaded. The new Red Dog bottom terminal was repositioned when built so it was “out of the way”.
