I believe the more cabins were added later and all those new cabins were blue, explaining the odd ratio. I sorta recall an even mix of cabins a few years back.
As I said before, the blue ones were added as part of capacity upgrades on both this and the lower gondola. The cabins were an even mix before, but all the new ones are blue, so there are more blue ones now.
There’s a turnaround at the midstation for both sections, and they usually run them independently. Both sections have their own drives too afaik. They are basically two separate lifts that can be linked together at the mid.
As for access, there’s a road and small parking lot at the midstation.
While the hotels and condos were always at their current locations, there used to be an access road and small parking area up to the current midstation. The lower section was always planned to be added on to serve beginners (and cuz they knew it was well into rainy elevations). I want to say they left the old leftover lift running for hotel access for a few seasons.
Now the only base access means jumping through the lower gondola hoop, but it’s pretty worth it as you now have 0 mountain roads between town and the ski area.
The first few years of Revy were very memorable 😁.
It’s easier for the lower gondola downloading, and it makes sure all the mid-mountain traffic lapping stage 2 have their own lift, it’s just better like that.
When they did interline them they did seem to get more stoppages and I suspect that is why they stopped doing it. Though operating them separately makes more sense on really busy days when you have people skiing down to mid and full gondolas coming up from base, that didn’t really become an issue until after they stopped interlining them.
Most of the cabins are blue, but why are a handful yellow? Seems like an odd ratio

Probably added when the lower gondola was built.

These are modular terminals, they had the upper stage bottom terminal just as a regular terminal and then just added the lower part after.

Why don’t they interline between the sections anymore?
