Rueggli is the second Skytrac fixed-grip for Taos after the Kachina Peak project. The return terminal shares an operator house with the pulse gondola.Short lift line.Tower 5 and the top station. This lift replaced two Stadeli beginner chairlifts.Middle part of the line.Monarch drive terminal up top.Next to its sibling, Gondolita.
The original Rueggli was relocated from Lift 2 in 1995, with several upgrades, such as new terminals (the original terminals were similar to Sandia’s Chair 1) and center pole chairs being retrofitted with bail style carriers (keeping the original hangars and seats from 1965). In old pictures of this lift, you can see where the hangars were welded with the new bails. The return bullwheel wasn’t original either (as there’s a photo showing the lift’s return terminal while the lift was still Lift 2). Tower 1 was also replaced during its relocation, but the original 1965 lattice towers were still around. It’s sad that such a neat frankenlift was replaced, but knowing how difficult it is to find Städeli parts, that lift had no choice but to be scrapped
