From a standpoint of horizontal length, this lift is just about 200 feet longer than the Beaver Run SuperChair (going off the stat tables). Yet it clearly is run at a much higher speed of 1,200 fpm (pretty much justified given the distance traveled). Shows just how long Snowmass’s lifts are (Sheer Bliss being about 1,300 feet longer than Big Burn).

I somewhat doubt that it ever achieves 1200 feet per minute in normal operation. I believe Poma has 4 chairlifts that are designed for that speed. Chile at Angel Fire, Shooting Star at Mount Hood Meadows, Vista at Mount Hood Meadows, and Sheer Bliss at Snowmass. Of these, two are second generation Challengers, and two are Omegas. Chile and Sheer Bliss are clearly designed for that speed due to length, but the lifts at Mount Hood Meadows aren’t exceptionally long. Not sure why they decided to spend extra to get a 1200 design speed that they don’t even run the lifts at, instead of the usual 1100.

The caption for the first picture is no longer correct – as of spring 2020 High Alpine is the newest Leitner Poma detachable.
