The Borvig double was called the 2000′ Double if I’m not mistaken. It was removed in part due to cracks found in the towers, they also happen to have been found right after the Thunderstruck accident.
Many people, including myself, have lost friends to suicide. Frankly, I’m surprised it took them this long to change the name. It *is* rather insensitive.
I am actually kind of surprised too that it took them this long considering all the different name changes that have been going on in the ski industry lately. But I hope they find time to find a new name that makes sense in relation to the cultural, geographic, and historical features of the area.
Well, for those people naming any kind of business today, I don’t think that the word ‘suicide’ would be in their top 100,000 choices of words. From a pure marketing perspective, it should have been done years ago.
