All the trees to the left of the lift are now burnt to a crisp.

Were they burned or just killed by pine Beetle infestation?

Burned. Wildfire. The mid-mountain lodge is also roasted.

That’s not good. They were about to open that lodge and then people would not have to eat in the tents. That would be nice. Sad.

I don’t think so though. If you look at this video of the Tamarack Express on Feb. 14, 2021, from 8:22 to 8:45, the mid-mountain lodge looks just fine.

The lodge, which is at the top of Tamarack Express, is still standing and was not damaged by the fire. However, it remains in limbo. The exterior was built awhile ago, but the inside of the building remains largely unfinished and I’m not sure when they plan to complete it (there was a sign announcing its opening in 2007 laying next to it). There is plastic protective film covering the windows that has started to peel off, which looks pretty unsightly. My guess is they will finish it after all the Village condos are complete… so maybe next season, but that’s probably optimistic.

I thought Scott Turlington mentioned that there was a restaurant open in the mid-mountain lodge during his recent podcast with The Storm.

There is a restaurant across the trail from the lodge, but it’s in a temporary yurt-like structure, similar to what used to be at the base.

That was before I went there. That will be yet another dining option (they have opened some of the village already). You are right it looks fine.
