The World Book entry says the speed is 5.61 m/s or 1104 fpm. Is that true or is just a typo? I didn’t think lifts with DS series grips could go over 1000.
Yes, indeed TREX is capable of 1100 fpm. I remember back in the day they would run it at full speed quite often. However, now I think they only run it at 1000 fpm to facilitate loading and minimize wear and tear.
This is to facilitate loading and unloading. There is a negligible difference in wear at 5.5 versus 5.0. We’ll still run it at warp speed midweek when there aren’t many folks riding, which admittedly isn’t often these days.
I-lift is always busy, no matter the day. This is the main reason it was upgraded from two old doubles. I agree, a sixpack would be nice here, but we’ll see. We’re currently busy with two other slightly larger upgrades 😎
I agree that this lift does often have big lines. I think part of this stems from the fact that it serves an excellent intermediate pod with reasonably distanced trails. Last time I was at Copper, some of the people in my group could not handle repeated lengthy runs off of American Eagle and they were exhausted by lunch.
They’ve added bar-mounted map displays to the chairs on this, probably due to the fact that the American Flyer doesn’t have them on account of being a bubble lift.
To my earlier comment about taking chairs off Timberline Express, also known as T-Rex, TEX, I-lift, I-quad, and CM-022– I’ll be helping out with that next spring. My partner and I have been doing summer maintenance on it saying ‘well, that’s the last time we’ll have to do *that* service….’ I-6 will be a Leitner-Poma sixpack with standard carriers and Direct Drive. Kinda bittersweet; we all agree that the current I-quad is our most reliable and bomber detachable.

I noticed this lift going really fast when I rode it a while back.

When ever I go to Copper, there is always long lines on this lift. I think that this lift should be a 6 passenger lift

Be a good fit to relocate this lift elsewhere (L,R,A or S) and replace with a 90 deg load six, maybe do the new Uni skin when relocated.

They could add additional chairs to bring the lift up to 2,800 pph.

We’d have to drop the speed then, which would negate any additional capacity.

I hope copper replaces this with a six pack possibly this summer. They could relocate this to Sierra to help lines and ride time over there too.

This lift isn’t quite due for an upgrade yet.

No, we just had to get approval from Doppelmayr’s engineering department and it took until this season.

They recently announced that they would be turning this lift into a CLD 6. Excited to see how it turns out.

We did? Yes, we got Forest Service approval but nothing’s been finalised. Unless that’s what you’re referring to.

Yup. If you read the comments immediately above, you’ll notice we announced it in August of last year :)

I know but nobody said anything about that it is a Leitner-Poma lift.

“Just over an hour’s drive from Denver”.
LMAO I wish, in the winter I-70 is a shitshow and at most it’s over 2 hours.
