Nope, it’s from the top looking down. There aren’t any tall hotels down at the base, just a parking lot, the welcome center and 7-11.

What I am observing about Stealth III terminals is this.

A handful of terminal backs are roughly the same as Stealth II terminal backs. They are: Quincy Express
    Ruby Express
    Mt Rosebrook
    West Mountain
The rest of them have only straight backs

If you are confused, go to Cabriolet at Park City and Ruby Express at Deer Valley for example to compare the difference of the terminal backs.

I’ve always referred to Mt. Rosebrook Style as the Stealth III (Alternate). I believe that that skin was the alternate terminal skin, whereas the one seen on PC’s Cabriolet and Baldy at Snowbird are the standard Stealth IIIs. I could be wrong.

The different therminal contour designs (backs) are based on line gage the straight back like PC Cabriolet, Alta’s Collins are wide enough for a six, some resorts opted to to have their quads built on the wider gage for swing clearance and future upgrade reasons.

Does anyone know why this lift has skytrac controls? You can see their logo at the bottom station on the control panel.

Skytrac does a ton of support for CTEC and Garaventa CTEC lifts, I would guess that the lift was due for an electrical upgrade as its a late 90s detach.

What other cabriolets are there in North America. I know of: this one, Village Cabriolet (Winter Park, CO), and Cabriolet at Tremblant, QC. Any others I missed?

Seems more traffic is being pushed to this lift and it is becoming a pinch point. Is it up to the task?

Does anybody have info on these CTEC grips? I would expect a lift of this vintage to have the classic CTEC spring pack grip (unsure of the model) or possibly a DT-108. This lift (and many others such as the CTECs at Beaver Creek) appear to have a grip that looks more similar to a modern A108.

I think it’s a first gen Agmatic grip, the current model is the second generation.

I believe these are AK-460s, very similar to the Agamatic grips.

These are Agmatics. The AK-460s have the springs mounted backwards, so to speak, from these.

These are AK-460s. The ones you are referring to are the AK-680/681.

A good way of telling the difference between an Agmatic and an AK-400/460 is the angle of the springs (Agmatic is less steep) and if you can see the lever part of the mobile jaw (it is hidden behind the springs on the Agmatic when looking down the line, unlike these)

Good to know. I work on a lift with Agmatic grips (A104C in Doppelmayr nomenclature) and these look very similar at first glance.

A104C is just the model name of the standard Agamatic grips on quads (A for Agamatic, 1 for single jaw, 04 for up to 4 passengers, and the C is kinda irrelevant but it may have been added to signify chair).

Stupid vail ruins everything. They’re replacing the not busy newer cabriolet with a gondola

Talisker, the developer of Canyons Village, is the reason the Cabriolet is being replaced. They want to develop more real estate and consolidate all parking at the new garage. Furthermore, if I remember correct, Canyons Village Management Association is the owner of the existing Cabriolet, and they simply have Vail operate the lift.

The Cabriolet was also getting really beat up from running all day and most of the year for 25 years. It would have needed new cabins pretty soon to keep going much longer. The midstation location is an obvious development site and is currently nothing. With the new parking garage adding a lot more parking capacity down there, it was time for an upgrade. They can get something like twice as many people up the mountain from the Canyons base now with both gondolas and the bubble chair.

This is also PCMR’s best chance to get the Silverlode and Eagle replacements approved. They can point to (1) all the upgrades will be on the Canyons side and in Wasatch County for DV if you don’t approve this, and (2) we are addressing your biggest concern by pulling traffic out of the municipality of PC down to the Canyons base off 224, and (3) traffic will already be reduced after a crappy winter lopped a month off the season, Sundance is gone, and DV parks 750 cars a day down on 40. The traffic concern peaked around 2021 and (for better or worse) has resolved itself to an extent.

Will this be the first Stealth Terminal (I, II, III) detachable to be scrapped?

Considering that 2 of the 3 Stealth I’s got a second life after being replaced, King Con and Whirlwind relocated to replace Wonderama and Motherlode triples respectfully, Northside Express is still operating as of today. And most if not all of the removed Stealth II’s and III’s got a second chance at another resort like The Rocket at Crotched and the former Six Shooter going to Sugarloaf Maine.

I don’t believe any Stealths of any generation have been scrapped. Is this one being scrapped? It should be usable somewhere else as a regular lift, just throw some new carriers on it.

According to the recent twitter post on Liftblog, I hate to break it to you, but an excavator is scrapping the terminals. In my opinion, given that it was built in the year 2000 feels a bit wrong. They could’ve just reused them for a future installation like what Big Sky is doing with their old Six Shooter (still don’t know when it’ll be reinstalled as Timberline Express in Sugarloaf)

Seems to be Vail resorts operating policy to dumpster usable old lifts instead of selling them on or refurbishing and reinstalling them they only seem to keep parts for LM.

Not the first time for Vail Resorts to scrap usuable lifts from the late 90s and early 2000s

Whistler scrapping the outgoing Creekside Gondola, Big Red 4, and Fitz 4 lifts despite reusing Harmony 4, Emerald 4, and the removed Whistler Mueller T-Bar getting refurbished for Crystal Ridge, Catskinner, and Eastlink Park.

If the Eagle 6 and Payday 8 Lifts does happen, will they scrap the outgoing Eagle and Payday 6 lifts making the 2nd Stealth to be scrapped? Could also count Pride, Wildwood, Riva Bahn, Cinch, Strawberry Park, Grouse Mt, Bachelor Gulch, and the Eagle Bahn to be scrapped once the upgrade comes.

How high were the hrs on the Cabriolet and the 3 Whistler detachables listed above? Considering Fitz and Creekside were also used for summer ops back in the day

This would have been a nice lift for Heavenly when you think about it. It could have been used to replace Boulder vs riding the terribly slow beginner speed Riblet up or it running from the Sky Deck to the Gondola when wind shuts down the mountain and everyone parked on the other side of the mountain has to shuttle back. This lift would need a new motor, gearbox and drive of course, but it would have been an option. Also, it could be a way to deliver food to the Sky Deck vs snowcat as food is transported up to the lodge by gondola after hours.
