Ultra violet light shields. They protect the lower portion of the tower from sun damage. Wildcat express at snowbasin has them too.

Several years late, but anyway. They’re there to prevent the sun from heat-bending the tower and compromising the rope alignment as it enters the terminal, not UV damage (else every tower would have them).

I think they’re to help prevent heat expansion due to sun exposure from becoming an issue and throwing things out of alignment.

This lift follows the route of the Sainte-Paix Double, but is extended downwards to where Le Trip started. You can see the former line of Le Trip in the picture captioned “Side view of the UNIG station”. Sainte-Paix was removed without replacement two years before this lift was built, so for two seasons anyone skiing the trails Sept Chutes (current lift line) and looker’s right had to ride the gondola. Trails La S and La Super S had a short and flat connector trail from the top of Le Trip which has since been decommissioned as it is unnecessary with the current lift. La Rousseau wasn’t cut until the new lift was built.
