A low capacity six-pack would be a good idea here. This is an excellent blue pod and should receive more traffic given the lines at the main base. A high-speed lift would definitely draw more people over.

They are working to bring more snowmaking to some trails over here this year in an attempt to open this pod earlier without the need for natural snow. Mount Snow has also stated many times that ‘Sunbrook is our most logical replacement’, signifying that plans for a new lift are in the works. Wether or not they go with a four or six is wtill unkown. I think an HSQ will cut it on Sunbrook, howver I think if any area of the mountain deserves a six-pack, it’s North Face. Both triples, although reliable, are pretty slow and somewhat difficult to load. I think they should take both out and op for a high speed six.

It was in the works under Peak Resorts, but Vail will not build a single lift in the Northeast as they want to milk the region. Unfortunately this means Sunbrook will always be underutilized because people don’t want a 10+ minute ride on the quad.

Given the plans for a new six and relocated quad at Okemo, before COVID-19 knocked out all of Vail’s capital improvement plans throughout the country, I think it’s safe to say Vail is not simply going to milk their northeast resorts. They will invest where it makes sense. Hopefully this lift will be on the list in the not-too-distant future.

Well Vail cancelled all their lift projects, so I wouldn’t hold my breath on them even happening in 2021

They should add a 4-person bubble, I think a 6-person is overkill and a waste of money considering how sunbrook usually dosent get crowded, love your ideas though.

Apparently on the Vermont Act 250 database, in 2016 Mount Snow filed for an extension on a permit issued in 2011 giving them the green light to replace this lift with a detachable quad. There is no other info on when this expires, and the only documents provided were some drawings from Dopplemayr showcasing the pre-fab operator shacks, and a topographical map of the area. I suppose that Peak Resorts didnt get to this because of financial reasons, and Vail creaky shows no interest. It’s a real shame that they haven’t done anything, especially with a green lighted permit.

Replace Bear Trap with this and turn it into a HSQ. Simple.

It’s all simple when you’re not working deals with the Forest service and your parent company has higher priorities than this lift.

Are there any plans for this lift to be relocated?

Honestly, I don’t think so. While a low-speed quad would be useful in lots of places, Sunbrook was a very slow ride, and had an extremely scary unload ramp, it honestly made no one want to ride this area.

My fastest fixed grip quad on record. I love how there’s usually not much people over here and accesses some awesome intermediate trails. Does anyone know where they moved it to? My dad’s most favorite section.
