Indiana’s largest ski area will make a major lift investment next year, replacing one of its five Riblet chairlifts with a modern Skytrac quad. The new Red chair will feature a loading conveyor and increase uphill capacity over an existing 1987 triple. The project is the fifth publicly-confirmed Skytrac project for next year. Other mountains adding new Skytrac lifts this offseason include Gore Mountain, New York; Nub’s Nob, Michigan; Stevens Pass, Washington; and Wild Mountain, Minnesota.
How many lifts are we up to for this year?

63 by my count. Almost as many as the total last year. https://liftblog.com/2023-new-lifts/

I’m curious as a 1987 Riblet isn’t really that old in terms of replacement.
Is this due to a need for increased capacity, or is this due to the need for replacement parts and/or using this lift as a parts donor to other Riblets on the hill?
Most of the Riblets we see being replaced currently are 60s/70s vintage.

As a Perfect North pass holder for over 10 years, increased capacity is definitely what’s needed on that chair. The white quad next to is is only opened as needed and is a much longer ride. The red lift often gets absurd lines on weekends and holidays even with white being open.
