Rope taxi is kinda interesting it uses motors turning the main grip rollers to propel the Cabins through the station switching areas and boarding zones. Unfortunately from the information from german lift forum it sounds like the batteries carried in the cabins are having issue maintaining charge and cabins die and have had to be manually removed from the system to recharge, the system also runs slow around 4m/s but hay it’s a prototype so time will tell.

Not mine. I grew up on the other side of those mountains (davis county side) and the last thing we need are more private resorts in Utah. Not that I have anything against those who make good money, but I am a bigger fan of mountain resorts that cater to all.

lol, why? I mean sure it sucks if you’re the homeowner on that side but it’s not like these people are going to be homeless because of stalled construction. These are first-time home buyers but they’re people’s 3rd, 4th,5th, or however many homes they have. I mean the HOA annual fee is said to be $500k alone.
And like the other comment, the last thing we need is to privatize our mountains. More of an advocate for public reports that we can all enjoy, especially if it means it can alleviate traffic from the cottonwood canyons.

Now that the Attitash Summit Triple has retired, is Mount Pleasant’s Summit Triple the elder statesman of CTEC Summit Triples in New England and demands attention?

no more so than any other triple of it’s age. Things happen that even the best of inspections won’t reveal in the off season. New or used.

As of last week, it’s still sitting in Jordan Bowl. I would be surprised it if gets reinstalled anywhere.

The Pleasant Mtn reinstallation has been the rumor for so long but I haven’t heard it from anyone directly “in the know”. I’m questioning it more and more as time goes on. Then again, I never felt that Pleasant needs a detachable lift anywhere… but it does need fixed-grips that are reliable, at least.

I know Boyne resorts is gonna make that announcment soon that they’re gonna refurbish that Jordan high speed quad to replace the summit triple at Shawnee Peak.

This seems crazy that 11 ski areas in Colorado when combined only paid $26 million to the forest service. DIdn’t the Judge over the PCMR vs Talisker rule back in 2014 that Powder would have to pay Talisker $17.5 million per year to lease the 3000 acres PCMR operates on. Meanwhile, these other 11 resorts are leasing from the forest service and when combined it only totals $26.02 million, 10 years later, in 2023? Are these numbers right or are leases from the Forest Service just crazy cheap?

Honestly I hope the Forest Service dings the new Powder Mountain owners for every penny they can. Unlike most other Colorado and Utah resorts, Powder Mountain is nearly completely on national forest land, and the fact that the Netflix CEO has the audacity to turn large portions of the resort on national forest land into private real estate exclusive access is beyond morally bankrupt. In hindsight, Vail or Alterra buying Powder Mountain would have a far better outcome

Looks Mountain Capital needs to spend some money on ski lift maintenance and or replacement.
Hesperus & Nordic Valley are both Closed in December because their lifts are in such disrepair and they can’t operate for the season, Hmmm??

There should be lots of good used Riblet parts still around to revive the Hesperus Bighorn. Maybe the Riblet that was removed from Arizona Snowbowl Hart Prairie, make it a top drive.
