Baldy getting a new chair is awesome. That said the COLDEST I have ever been was there with the wind blowing, and the snow cannons going in -40 (c or f) , right through riders on the old chairlift. Photo linked.

Baldy (and Loch Lomond) will likely see more local traffic from TBay this year as they can’t go day skiing at Lutsen until the border restrictions change

The “new” lift is replacing a Riblet double chair, IIRC.

Why wouldn’t they replace the tbar or the rope tow instead

It wasn’t a ribblet, it was a sketchy copy made by some dockworkers / machine shop guys back in the day (1940’s. ?)

The “new” owner groups of Baldy and Loch are really making progress since I was last there.

The boarders liked the chair more than the T bar, and it is needed to get to the main / lookout / lower park wither as much trekking across the flat at the summit.

Willard had a complicated legal settlement between the operator and the landowner in 2016 for about $550,000. So, yeah, maybe that’s up in the air again?

It is interesting to hear Mayflower mention they are talking with Vail as an operator. There is no way I see Alterra letting Vail completely surround them in Park City, although the Deer Valley snowboarding ban is likely the biggest obstacle.

So when a military member arrives to this new Mayflower resort with their snowboards in hand, are they going to say ‘sorry can’t snowboard here.’ I think not. I hope this new resort forces Deer Valley’s hand with regards to their outdated, asinine ‘no snowboarding’ policy.

That agent does a lot of residential and commercial sales in Queensbury. Could indicate West is on the market.

I like how solitude is taking care of their aging express lifts. It’s nice to see how some resorts respect the classic engineering.
