Ski Sundown today announced it will replace the base-to-summit Exhibition triple this offseason with a quad from Skytrac. The current Exhibition lift opened in 1977 and carries 1,800 skiers per hour. The new fixed grip lift will feature a loading conveyor and 2,400 skier per hour capacity. The new lift will reduce ride time to 4.5 minutes with speed increasing from 400 feet per minute to 450 feet per minute. It will include 90 quad chairs and span 1,999 feet.
Exhibition’s final day will be this Sunday and the new lift is expected to open for the 2024-25 season.
In addition to this being the first Skytrac in Connecticut, this will also be the first modern quad chairlift in Connecticut.

We have two of those at Bryce (VA) and I was one the new one at Snowshoe (WV) the past few days. I hope you had a good season at Jackson hole.

I hope they replace Triple Barrel as well, though. May be a little bit of a stretch.

I think its safe to say that Triple Barrel has at least another 5-10 or so year left before a replacement or refurbishment is needed.

Agreed, but with the new, faster Exhibition, no one will ride Triple, and the quad will do nothing but add lines to itself.

Triple will become the backup lift for when/if it gets busy. it was installed in the mid 80’s – so in ‘Sundown years’ the thing is just about new. With a higher capacity overall per hour the new quad should absorb any lines until they need to run the triple. The 30 -45 seconds or so you may save on the quad getting up the hill will be saved by riding triple with no line vs folks in line for the quad – if it gets busy enough to run it.
The next lift upgrade will likely be over on the sunnyside area – as that lift is quite similar in age to the outgoing exhibition lift. Kinda surprised they didn’t do both lifts at the same time, but maybe there are enough parts they can cannibalize to keep it going for another decade or so?
