Glad to hear that the Indy pass is slowly gaining more ski areas, especially on the east coast. Even though you still have to purchase a ticket for the “Allied” resorts, taking initiative to attract new customers is always a good thing. Considering the amount of people frustrated over Vail poor management of certain areas, I suspect somewhat of an increase of Indy pass sales for this year. Can’t wait for next season!

What I did to get that picture there is I went to the website with the trail maps and right-clicked on one of the images, not the link to the pdf. I selected “copy image link” then pasted the link in the comment. Once I posted the comment, the image popped up.

My best guess would be that it is going to be Tahoe Express, and they just haven’t updated things, but I really don’t know. It’s definitely odd how there are two completely different names in different places. I’m wondering if the lift status page and that trail map that you attached were created before they decided to name it Tahoe Express.

As a local who has skied Mt. Rose for the last 45 years, it is perplexing. I will ask around to get clarification, but I am almost certain that they are changing the lift to Tahoe Express. Mt. Rose changed the name prior when Ponderosa was moved to a different alignment (now Wizard) and when Zephyr replaced Overland/Pioneer lifts on the Slide side in 1989. At any rate, it is exciting to see this lift getting replaced as it will greatly help uphill capacity when the summit lifts are closed on windy days.

Why did the north bowl quad contract cost $8.7 million?! That seems like a ton!

Have you read the news of late?
Doppelmayr actually bid lower by ~$100,000. LPOA was determined to be the best value bid. LPOA agreed to do some foundations for a mountain coaster as an add on which Doppelmayr wanted nothing to do with. Also Doppelmayr refused to supply a 1,100 ft/min lift without auto locking restraint bars. Apparently that would be against European code which all Doppelmayr lifts are built to.

Thanks for the context.

It’s a pretty large lift all things considered, it isn’t a multi lift order, and the prices are higher than all of us armchair enthusiasts think they are.

Probably because of the terrain prep work for lift tower foundations. Alot of rocky terrain in spots under the surface. It would probably be less if Gore set the towers and helped with installation. But ORDA always like the work done by the lift manufacturer get the full warranty not a limited warranty.

Mt. Rose reached out to me. The name will be Lakeview Express. Tahoe Express was considered but not selected and some maps were published in error.
