What does the double-blue rating help with? Since all ratings are subjective, one still has to ski the run to decide if you gots them skillz. Not looking to be combative, here. Genuinely curious.

A lot of times there is a huge variance in the difficulty of black runs at resorts, as steep tree runs that are nearly double black (if the resort even has a double black rating) and moderately steep groomers and mogul runs both fall under the black rating. Having more detail in your rating system can help visitors know more about the terrain they’re going to attempt and can help with the transition from blue to black.

Bummer that Mt. Whittier will never see the light of day again…. that abandoned gondola is so sad looking when you remember how great it must have been to ride.

Reputation was icy, with slopes too steep or too flat. Agree that the gondola looked cool.

What if hunter uses doppelmayr instead of leitner poma to install the 6 pack like mount snow did in 2022 with the sundance and sunbrook lifts
