It’s unfortunate that the Eaglecrest situation has been allowed to get to this point.

The idea of the gondola––or something like it––isn’t bad, and partnering with Goldbelt for summer visitation is a smart play. But there’s just no reason this project needs to cost $38 million. It seems quite possible they’re getting screwed by public works requirements or inadequate competition among contractors/consultant.

If they do cancel this version of the project, I hope they go back to the drawing board and consider something brand-new, even if it’s just a Skytrac fixed-grip and they have to do scenic lift rides instead of gondola rides.

Sounds like Marquette went with Doppelmayr. I would guess fixed quad but they haven’t said yet.

Current employee here, options were weighed of a fixed grip or high speed and it is most likely coming down to cost. I do believe they are also not going to have a mid-station on the new lift and use River chair to serve the racing hills and backcountry. Again this hasn’t been confirmed but it is what I have heard from my fellow employees.
