The map of the Bergman Bowl expansion at Keystone is sort of confusing. The map says there is no green access while the chairlift serves green terrain.

Beginners can just take the Outpost Gondola from Dercum. It will be nice either way to see above-treeline terrain accessible for beginners, as other nearby resorts like Breckenridge and Copper have it only accessible for experts.

Much of that is due to terrain limitations. We don’t currently have any terrain above timberline that is actually suitable for beginners, and in my explorations on the other side the Tenmile I’ve noted the same about Breck.

The closest any beginner can get to being above timberline is the upper part of the greens off Rendezvous.

I feel there’s going to be a green run cutoff from the Outpost over to the green trail diverging off the ridge trail.

There probably won’t be increased traffic on the Ruby Express or Santiago Express given that beginners won’t be going down Mozart (headed back towards North peak) or Prospector (returning to Dercum Mountain) and will just use the Outpost Gondola.

The cabins from the gondola in the video link have ski racks in the floor! Are there any cabins in the North America like this?

Well, in Europe they were built in places where the Skis are fatter than the average American ones as well (Schindlergrat St. Anton). But that might be a special case as it is the first modern gondola with doors on both sides due to the special mid station. A few other lifts have no taken the sensible option to have ski holders indoor and outdoors, but in general these setups with the indoor slots in the ground are major pain, not just for fat skis but also snowboarders.

When did fat skis become a thing, anyway?

Fat skis became hugely popular in the last 5-10 years.

No better place to sell a chairlift then here. Smart move by Loon

Still a bit surprised Loon is selling the soon to be removed Seven Brothers. Had kind of hoped they might reuse it for a lift out of the Escape Route parking lot at the bottom of no way out Escape Route on South Peak. Especially since the previously planned beginner and public access pod seems to have fallen out of their upgrade plans. Really odd to have a trail to nowhere with snowmaking on it for so long now.

I’m curious as to where Sundance might expand.

I would guess it’s the proposed Bishop’s Bowl expansion, but I have also heard that Sundance has been considering expanding higher up the mountain than Red’s.
