I think the new cabins look pretty ugly because of the color. I usually like sigma diamond cabins, but there is way too much red on these.

Having been at the aiguille du midi (Chamonix), jaugfrau top of Europe (Wengen) as well as glacier paradise (Zermatt), and a bunch of other similar this winter, that cervinia interconnect isn’t completely outrageous given the costs for other experiences, at least at walk up full fare pricing. Anything package deal will bring that price down.
And it looks as far as I can tell as being the price with all the other lifts included , vs just the upsell??
They know its going to be wildly popular in the first year, so this might keep the numbers manageable.
But if you have been to Zermatt, literally nothing there is inexpensive, so this is just a rounding error on the typical guests trip cost
One thing I found so impressive in Europe, especially at premium resorts, is the massive modern lift fleets, all still at lift pass prices well below anything comparable in North America. All with relatively no lines.
Ironically I was mainly skiing with Epic or Ikon pass!
Hidden budget hack if you want to stay in Zermatt…. stay at the schwartzsee which is at the base of the Matterhorn , halfway of the way up the glacier paradise. It’s evening meal and breakfast included… Plus you know real first tracks as your already most of the way up the mountain.

The price is a for a pedestrian ride. If you have a ski pass you don’t pay anything extra. While Zermatt prices are fairly expensive by European standards (and use dynamic pricing), you can get 7 days with the Ikon pass, or 5 days with the Ikon base, but only in deep winter.

I like that far right Red Pine Gondola picture where both sections are visible.

Is Big Sky’s new tram supposed to open for next winter or next summer?

It will be open this winter, however the terminal enclosures will not be completed, that work will be done next summer.
