Cool to see the Lift 2 announcement and glad it is the alignment of their master plan. It will be much better for progression for beginners, there was kind of gap after doing Lift 7 > Lift 3 mid station.

Here at Sunshine and Louise, we will let you know how not changing the clocks works this winter. I expect lifts open later and close later and nobody really worries about it.

It will be basically this. Having spent seasons skiing AZ snowbowl, which has not ever had clock changes, it was never an issue but we did get a few late season extended days where the mountain was open until 6:30ish.

It never made a difference opening at 9-9:30 am.

To be fair, Banff is quite a bit farther north and also farther west in MST (before accounting for the permanent DST now in effect). During late December, lifts open at 9am and the sun doesn’t even really come up until 8:30am, which will be 9:30am now. Flagstaff has sunrise at 7:30am even on the shortest day of the year.

The new Lift 2 alignment will make it actually usable as a lapping lift and not just as an access lift to 6. (I wonder if this means that tower 2 on Lift 6 gets removed or it gets retrofitted with a lifting frame, as it doesn’t have one due to being where that lift crosses under Lift 2.)
