What could the “contractual obligations with our chairlift” be?

I am a little surprised that Big Sky did not upgrade the grips on the new shedhorn chair given they upgraded the terminals. Anyone know any background on why?

They only upgraded the skins of the terminals, the terminal itself is the same as the old one. To upgrade the grips would mean a complete retrofit and would have been far more expensive.

The upper section of the gondola opened last winter and the lower section just this month. Of course I will go back if I ever get the opportunity. YC is now the 16th largest resort in the country by number of lifts and sure to keep growing.
