The way I understood it is that it is not entirely unstaffed, but only has staff in one of the three stations. An alpinforum.com who works for ski resorts posted some interesting pictures of the internals of the comm system in the gondolas that allows video and audio communication with the remote lift operator here: https://www.alpinforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=64670

The video on Gary is ironic since neither heavenly or Kirkwood has seen a new lift in over a decade. I believe last years upgrade of galaxy from a double to a triple was a used chair from Colorado. Sad situation at vail owned resorts in California

Galaxy upgrade was newish as in the lift got new terminals, and chairs but the line equipment (towers, sheave assemblies) came from various other Vail resorts. I was surprised with how long the lift was they didn’t go with a detachable.
