That tram video is truly horrifying. Rip to the victims.

Now you need to add a 2023 new lifts section for the new Pioneer Lift.

Also some more questions about Steamboat improvements.

      1. Is Greenhorn Ranch just a filler name? I have never heard the name Greenhorn in relation to steamboat just like Pioneer Ridge.

      2. Is the Bashor replacement still happening with this Greenhorn Ranch? It is going to need more capacity. Also, what happened to the other two fixed grips in the learning center projects?

      3. Is it still just the first stage for Wild Blue that’s being built for now? If the second stage is being built at the same time, Steamboat would receive a lot of complaints because of Sundown not being upgraded. If both stages didn’t happen now, I would go D-Line on Wild Blue so it’s easier to add another stage in the future.

      4. Is Pony express still receiving a capacity boost this summer and the new patrol headquarters being built at the top of it.

Side note: Pioneer Ridge/Fish Creek expansion already have received and is going to receive more hate from locals with this announcement. The reason why is because it is an easy access backcountry area that is super popular. The original plan was for the lift to be built sometime around 2030.

Another side note: I’m surprised there is no sort of Morningside upgrade, it’s going to get slammed when Wild Blue is fully built out.

Maybe Morningside will be a project that will be added at later date.

I think someone needs to tell them that there’s plenty of other places to go if they want their backcountry fix.

Eh, there aren’t a lot of great slackcountry options. Always a shame to lose one and we can all lament with the locals who do any time an expansion clears, even if it benefits the ski area long term.

There is always more backcountry areas for example Soda Mountain and Rabbit Ears Pass, but those are harder to access than Pioneer currently is. Also, Pioneer is an amazing backcountry area too.

Thanks for all the great info on Steamboat. I’m stoked about the upgrades and what not going on.
Very heartbreaking to see the tram accident.

Reminds me of the cable snap from when the Eskimo lift was burned down during the destruction tests.

Good to see upgrades at Steamboat. Hopefully Priest Creek will run daily once wild Blue is installed if they have decided not to upgrade Sundown or at least weekends and holidays. It could be a cluster down there otherwise. Looking forward to Wild Blue though, should be many options from the top and will definitely be a game changer. Would be good to see Steamboat open more terrain though. Pioneer is a start

Other terrain steamboat could open is the second peak on sunshine and terrain below Morningside.

Mixed feelings about Pioneer though. I am happy steamboat is adding more expert terrain because that is what it needs most. On the other hand, it is a really great backcountry area and I would hate to lose it.
