According to the latest episode of the Storm Skiing podcast, a HSQ or chondola is in the cards once snowmaking is established on the Canyon trail from the Chalet to the parking lot. That’s still a few years out, but supposed to get underway this summer.

my understanding from the same podcast was that they would have snowmaking done on Canyon trail this summer.
Maybe I was mistaken, but Canyon isn’t insanely long or remote, is fairly narrow so not a ton of surface area, and snowmaking exists above and below it. Meaning while there might be a lot of work to do, it would seem feasible to be done in 1 summer.

Per the Brattleboro Ski Hill page, “OK, Ski Hill fans here we go the update for 3:30 PM on Saturday.
We continue to run into some unforeseen delays, which is unwelcome however for some good news, we are in the testing phase of the lift. The solution is operating and crews on the ground are trying to dial in the solution for operability and of course safety, which we would never compromise on.
That said, we have made the decision to not open this evening, Saturday. This was a very tough call and was it was not taken lightly. The decision was a combination of not knowing exactly when the work was going to be finished, when we have sign off for operation from the state, and of out of respect for our volunteer staff.
While this was not the decision we wanted, we want to try to make it up in some small way. Therefore tomorrow we will open two hours early and run from 10 until 4. The snow will be freshly groomed and it looks like a lovely day.
We thank you for your unending flexibility this week, your patience and your steadfast support. We will see you tomorrow morning in person at 10 AM!

West End Double going detach is rather sad. The fixed-grip half of Powderhorn is just way better in so many ways (less crowded, better snow, better vibes, more quiet and scenic). The trails over there are also narrow, and more “natural” feeling … hope this doesn’t come with a bunch of trail widening :/ …
I skied Wolf Creek for the first time recently, and *Alberta* is probably the lift in Colorado most desperately in need of going detachable. It’s very long, very slow, and serves a vast amount of terrain.

Was at Pico yesterday. Superstar donating its upgraded chairs to Golden Express will definitely be a welcome upgrade. Also, the fact those chairs aren’t going to Snowshed makes me suspect that lift is next to go.

I believe Ramshead is next. But Snowshed is probably right behind.

Brattleboro Ski Hill has posted another update on its FB page. It looks like it was an issue with its brake system. They have it fixed now.

Few things are more beautiful than a big 3S Gondola.
I wonder when the technology will trickle down to chair lifts. It would be nice if chairs could be more wind resistant so less wind-prone areas have to use T-bars.
