Ruby Mountains. This proposed small ski area wood have little impact on the Ruby Mountains in general. Even from a visual standpoint most of that area has burned and there are hardly any trees left. The ski runs would pretty much cutting brush.
Elko, Spring Creek have become sprawling communities over the last 10 years. 3K acres at that location would have no impact in the big picture of the Ruby Mountains. The proposed ski area is not a slam dunk for snow. If Snowmaking happens it may have more impact??

The Vail tragedy of 1976 deserves more attention. This journalists struggled far to long to uncover the facts, and the story remains underdiscussed. These events, tragic though they are, should be openly examined and taught to future lift builders, mechanics, and operators. Discussing what went wrong, we learn how to prevent similar disasters and understand why we look for and maintain this machinery the correct way.
