Looking at pow mow’s master plan all I can say is they just want to sell real estate, chalets, cabins, and subdivisions with single-family lots. It’s the worst use of land you can have. They take up all this land, pay for all these roads and services to build homes that are used four to seven weeks a year. There’s no one in the village. No one on the lifts. No one in the shops.

RIP Dr Cobabe. What a monster became of his once incredible “little” ski area. I’d say it peaked in 05 when Hidden Lake was still slow but we had Paradise and James Peak. Back when Woody might be nice on a slow day and drop you back off at Hidden Lake Lodge so you could do Powder Country Laps. When the ride out Lightning Ridge was a free tow up behind a snowmobile.

Does PowMow actually have good (read: expert) terrain? I’m not an Utah local but I’ve always thought its trail map/stats gave off Canyons, skiing-through-subdivisions vibes.

PowMow is mostly off piste blue terrain. They claim things are black but it’s pretty soft. There are a few areas with harder runs that are fun to rip on a powder day. Paradise, the Hidden Lake side of Powder Country, off the tip of Lightning Ridge, and off Sanctuary in Cobabe Canyon. James Peak and Baldy are nice black hikes that eastern ski resorts would call double black but aren’t compared to Rocky/Sierra resorts.
If you like long flowy runs with widely spaced trees, PowMow is your kind of terrain. It will not challenge you though.

I hope Cuchara does well! Good to see that they managed to get it up and running again.

What’s going on with that powder mountain master plan map? It’s missing some of the existing and new lifts, including Mary’s, Village, sundown and DMI

Only Cache County shown, not the portion in Weber County.
