Hey I think Stagecoach can be successful. That’s great! Good luck to them! I don’t think there are any remains of the former 3 Heron-Poma doubles there anymore.
Here is a link about Stagecoach on an outdated website.

The lower lift (chair 2 or Little Hitch, I think) is still there at least. I recently drove by the place and the half-built day lodge and that lift were still standing. Chair 1 (Big Hitch) ended its career at Winter Park where it was the Timberline lift, and I don’t know about chair 3/Yellowjacket (their upper mountain lift).
Given the influx of folks to Steamboat (and Colorado in general) these last few years, I think a *public* ski are would do well. I’m less sanguine about this private club idea. I’m sure there’s a draw in that rarified group of the ultra-wealthy, but I’ve also heard how few take advantage of the Yellowstone Club. I could be way off base there as I definitely don’t travel in those circles….

it might be successful since steamboat is nearby. I believe that’s how Yellowstone club stays solvent, members can ski over to big sky. Otherwise YC and stagecoach would be too small to be enough of a draw. But I dont run with that crowd so I could be wrong.

This one is a little different, if I remember correctly from the last time someone tried to resurrect it, the ski area was/has been planned to be 3000 skiable acres which could make it a true ski area in it’s own right.
However, I also agree that we should be advocating for public ski areas to be built especially in areas like this which will be less sensitive to potential climate change.

Colorado already has a private ski resort. There are no lifts, snowcat served., and much larger skier acreage. https://cimarroncolorado.com/ Seems they limit their numbers to 13. There’s also an area 40 miles n of Steamboat, also snowcat served. https://threeforksranch.com/activities/private-skiing-snowboarding/

With places like Yellowstone club and Wasatch Peaks Ranch, I’m thinking this would work out for Stagecoach as well.. Especially if the private community takes off.

This is correct. The model is real skiing as a real amenity to unimaginably expensive real estate that is in close proximity to an existing center of gravity. These things can’t be out in the boonies because then there’s nowhere to go and conspicuously spend $400/head on dinner.
Stagecoach will succeed because it folllows this model and the people behind know what they are doing.

I wonder if the gondola ordered for Homewood and sitting in Reno is now going to Stagecoach.
