Any news when slidebrook express will be opening at Sugarbush? I’ve been waiting for it to open to drive down from Canada so I can experience both resorts in a single day without having to waste time on the shuttle

My 2 cents. Vail has decommissioned/removed so many old Doppelmayr lifts, it should have had a gearbox somewhere to put into this lift. I remember when Pine Marten Express was removed at Mt. Bachelor, it’s gearbox went up to Big White as it was a perfect fit. I know a gearbox is designed for X length/Y vertical, but it would still get you by until the replacement is repaired.

If you have a 260 SL72 laying around you can help them.

We had the old Wizard and Solar boxes lying around, which we used parts out of. The problem is you have no way to remove and transport a complete box without a crane and a truck. Not possible in winter. We also didn’t know if the problem was in the gearbox or bullwheel bearings. We had to de-tension the lift and drop the bullwheel to check that. All in all its really time consuming in the winter unfortunately.

I was at Bohemia on Friday when the chair fell off and had a good friend patrolling that day. It was one of the busiest days of the year due to winter fest taking place at Michigan Tech that weekend meaning there were way more unexperienced skiers there than there should have been. The unload ramp on the double is quite steep so a bad unload is 100% feasible. Patrol got the chair out of the way of the public within minutes and they were able to re open the lift roughly an hour later (just missing the chair that fell.) Patrol, maintenance, and Lonie (the owner) responded very well and handled the situation perfectly so I tip my hat to them.
