I went on one of the work tours last year as a student in NTHS engineering 2 class, and the Funitel was definitely the highlight. The motor and electrical control rooms were incredible and we were able to climb up into the deceleration bank and watch the cabins arrive. Other interesting parts was getting a lift control software overview and demonstration from the resident head engineer, going inside the KT midstation of the Base 2 Base, and seeing all three floors of the Base 2 Base parking barn on the Alpine side and a overview of their NDT process for the Base 2 Base grips. All of this among other stops.
Also the breakfast at the beginning was nice, they make good coffee and breakfast sandwiches. We also got free resort food for lunch.

I wonder if the lift at Whitewater is Backside 2. That was referenced as one of the next lift upgrades in their 2019 Master Plan addendum. If it is, that would be a big deal––and include 500 acres of additional terrain.

It seems that it would be BS2 or Silver King 3.0. I am not sure if any project would be done this year though, as there have been no announcements, and ski season is already over. We will see what happens over the summer. If there will be a new lift, it might have to be a 2026 project.
